Questions Directions: You ask someone for the following information. Begin your sentences with, "Do you know..."

Green ? A A. You heard a student in the cafeteria say that today's history class is cancelled. You see a classmate. Ask her to make sure.

Green ? B B. Karen invited you to a party for tonight, but you forgot to write down the time. You are too embarrassed to call Karen, so you ask your friend, Mike, instead.

Green ? C C. You are at the shopping mall, and you have lost your cell phone. You ask a security guard for the location of the "lost and found" desk.

Questions Directions: Change these sentences of direct speech into reported speech using noun clauses. Pay attention to punctuation, pronouns, and verb tenses.

Situation: Robert and Carol are at Robert's apartment.

Example: Robert said to Carol, "I've invited my parents and my aunt and uncle for dinner, but I don't know what to cook!"
Robert told Carol that he had invited his parents and his aunt for dinner but he didn't know what to cook.

Green ? 1 1. Carol asked Robert, "Do you cook very often?"

Green ? 2 2. Robert answered Carol, "No, I hardly ever cook."

Green ? 3 3. Carol suggested, "You should cook something simple with few ingredients."

Green ? 4 4. Carol asked, "Do you have a good cookbook?"

Green ? 5 5. Robert answered Carol, "I have used this one before."

Green ? 6 6. Carol asked him, "Have you chosen a recipe yet?"

Green ? 7 7. Robert said, "I have narrowed it down to three possibilities."

Green ? 8 8. Carol asked him, "Have you used any of these recipes before?"

Green ? 9 9. Robert answered, "I made the chicken casserole before and it was very good."

Green ? 10 10. Carol recommended, "You should make the chicken again."
