This course covers the history and philosophy of administration of justice in America as well as describing the justice system itself and describing relationships of its various subsystems. The class also explores theories of crime, punishment, ethics, education and training for professionalism in the justice system.
This course covers concepts of criminal law: historical development, philosophy of law, and constitutional provisions. It also covers classifications of crime and their application to the justice system. The course also covers legal research, study of case law, methodology, and concepts of law as a social force.
This course studies human behavior and the reasons people commit crimes. It also examines the nature and extent of crimes as well as the causes and prevention of criminal behavior.
This course surveys the psychological and criminological aspects of murder in America, including serial killers, spree killers, mass murderers, and terrorism.
This course is POST (Police Officer Standards and Training) certified as 40 hours of the Laws of Arrest Course, with a qualification certificate upon completion. It is presented in one week , from Monday, October 5 through Friday, October 9 from 8:00 am to 4:50 pm each day. The course covers professionalism for law enforcement officers, basic legal concepts, the laws of evidence and investigative techniques, and unarmed defense and handcuffing techniques. The course is primarily directed at individuals who deal with members of the general public in their regular occupations and who can expect to issue citations. Students interested in AJ 140 or AJ 141 must contact me before enrolling for the course.

This course is the basic POST (Police Officer Standards and Training) certified 24-hour firearms training, with a qualification certificate upon completion. The course meets on three Saturdays in October, from 8:00 am to 4:50 pm each day, on October 10, 17, and 24. Students are required to provide their own firearms, ammunition, and equipment, plus pay for a security background clearance. Students interested in AJ 140 or AJ 141 must contact me before enrolling for the course.
