MUSIC STUDENTS SCORE MUSIC FOR THE RABBIT HOLE

Ohlone Advanced Theory students An Na Lim, Alex Marks, Andrew Narveson, Jeremy Pulis, Jerick Sanchez, and Nick Tashjian composed and recorded scene change music and underscoring for Ohlone's Theater Department staging of The Rabbit Hole, running in November 2009. This Pulitzer Prize-winning play deals with a sweeping range of emotions, and these composers succeeded in reflecting and amplifying these mood swings. This will serve as a valuable addition to their resume.

VISITING MUSICIAN, PARTHA BOSE, PRESENTS LECTURE/DEMONSTRATION OF INDIAN MUSIC

On Thursday, November 12 from 1-2 pm Mr. Bose, accompanied by Indranil Mallick on tabla, presented a lecture/demonstration of Indian Music in room 2133.

A widely acknowledged classical musician of the North Indian genre, Partha Bose has an uncanny ability to communicate with listeners world-wide through his sitar. Credited with evolving a style which blends tradition with imagination, Partha seeks to touch the inner depths of a raga (melodic scale) and tala (rhythmic cycle) by fascinating improvizations.

Sterling performances in major music festivals in India and abroad as well as workshops and lecture-demonstrations for reputable universities over more than two decades have found him contributing substantially to the rising graph of Indian culture and music in the global arena.

Bose visualizes music as a universal language which reminds us of our shared humanity.
