Mission Peak Brass Band, Jackson Theatre FlyerOhlone's Mission Peak Brass Band, directed by Tony Clements, presents a concert featuring pieces covering a wide variety of musical styles. Included will be Send in the Clowns by Stephen Sondheim, featuring Flugelhorn Soloist Cliff Mercer; Suite from Porgy and Bess by George Gershwin, arranged by Alan Fernie; the Die Fledermaus Overture by Johann Strauss, arranged by Aubrey Winter; The Beatles Go Brass by Lennon and McCartney, arranged by Alan Fernie; and more.

Ohlone Wind Orchestra, Jackson Theatre FlyerCalifornia’s Premier Wind Orchestra, directed by Tony Clements, presents a program of classics and modern music for wind ensemble. Classic works include Weinberger’s Polka and Fugue from the opera ‘Schwanda the Bagpiper’, Alford’s classic march The Purple Carnival, and Stephen Bulla’s arrangement of selections from Sondheim’s dark masterpiece, Sweeney Todd. Modern selections include Robert W. Smith’s Africa: Ceremony, Song and Ritual, Steven Reineke’s The Witch and the Saint, Vince Oliver’s Of Which Song Shall the Muse Next Sing? and Jan Van der Roost’s challenging Sinfonietta. Bay Area composing maestro George Roumanis gets the band swinging with his Super Big Band Evolution, a sure crowd-pleaser!

Ohlone Symphony Orchestra, Jackson Theatre FlyerThe Ohlone Symphony Orchestra, directed by Larry Osborne and the Mission College Symphony, directed by Joseph Ordaz will perform a combined concert featuring Brahms’ Academic Festival Overture and Sibelius’ Symphony No. 1. Additional works to be performed are Eckl’s Gypsy Concerto for Cello with Rebecca Roudman, soloist and the first movement from Beethoven’s Piano Concerto #3 with Brad Arington, soloist.

Community Band, Jackson Theatre FlyerThe Ohlone Community Band, directed by Tony Clements, presents its Winter Concert. The Band will be celebrating Women’s History Month with Anne McGinty’s The Red Balloon and Julie Giroux’s Il Burlone. Other works include Arthur Pryor’s Thoughts of Love, featuring trombone soloist John Monroe; Philip Sparke’s The Sun Will Rise Again, with guest conductor Chris Nalls, dedicated to the victims of the earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan in March 2011; and more.

“For Those Who Serve...” -
Join the Ohlone Chamber Singers, directed by Michael Morris in their 12th Annual Masterworks Concert, dedicated to those who have served in the armed services.
- The featured work is a new composition for choir, baritone soloist, trumpet soloist, and string ensemble called Songs of Love and War by composer Paul Moravec. The Songs of Love and War’s texts are taken from four letters to and from American servicemen and their families. The letters are from the Civil War, WW I, WW II, and Vietnam.
- The concert will feature soprano Susanna Jimenez, mezzo-soprano Wendy Buzby, tenor Gabriel Cohen, baritone Jeffrey Taylor, and trumpeter Guy Clark.

The concert will conclude with David Whitwell's masterful transcription of Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring.
